If you are new to the world of copy writing and trying to hone your writing skills, try to land jobs/projects that are opinion/thought-based. I know it isn't easy to be choosy but if you have to write a sample article to display your writing style and grammar etc, then you can choose to write one of these articles.
One can never go wrong when dealing with articles/content that are opinion/thought-based. For example, you can write about what you think of the current global economic situation. For it to be effective, you must first be able to transfer whatever that is on your mind down to words. Some are able to do it easily without any hassle while others might find themselves facing stumbling blocks in the process of completing the article/content. So, is there a way to do it or what are the basic outline/format of these articles? Frankly, there is no set format for these form of articles/content but I have some pointers based on my own personal experience.
Firstly, you can give an overview of the situation. Taking the current global economy situation, you can write about the state of the global economy, the trend for the past few months and years and so on. Be general but ensure the words used are strong and attention grabbing. An example of a good introduction would be " The global economy is facing one of its worst period since 19... where many people are losing their jobs and the future is uncertain for millions all over the world. Inflation is on a sharp rise and the average take home salary has decreased " and compared to a weak introduction of " The global economy is poor. It has no future for all and future bleak ". The difference in the two sentences is that the second sentence is way too short and general for it to be effective.
Next, develop from your introduction into specifics. "Based on the current situation, it would be expected to last for another 5-10 years. In my opinion, many who have lost their jobs would be hard-pressed to seek for alternate income sources . Some of these alternative sources would be such as .........(various methods). In my opinion, some of the best solutions would be for them to....." And so on.
Develop your article/content with a mix of thoughts/opinions along with additional facts from research to have a full-bodied and rich end-result. Remember that there is no definite answer for opinions and thoughts and what you think and it's totally based on an author's creativity. Try to practice writing several of these on your own and in no time, you will be find yourself on the way to writing better and quicker at the same time.
